Let's do lunch or a round of golf?

Tampa commercial real estate

The Tampa Bay Skyline is changing! You may have noticed that an icon is being demolished along the Hillsborough River: The Tampa Tribune building is nearly cleared away. Related Development LLC, out of Miami, purchased the site last year and intends to build 399 riverside apartments on the west bank. The plans call for three cube-like glass structures to front on the river, and includes a tremendous pool deck, plus structured parking.

The site is ideal for easy access to downtown, the Riverwalk, Curtis Hixon Park and the Tampa Museum of Art. I feel it is an excellent location to be so close to downtown, yet slightly out of the traffic pattern. I hope that the Riverwalk is extended to the west side of the river, creating a loop through downtown. Per the City of Tampa website, there are plans that call for the extension of the Riverwalk to connect to Bayshore. That would be an amazing addition to the vibrant sidewalk system that now is a cornerstone of the City.

Just across the river from the Tribune site is the former Trump Tower site. It is now owned by Tower Realty Partners and Feldman Equities, LLC, one of Central Florida’s most prominent office developers/redevelopers. The Riverwalk Tower will be the tallest building in downtown, at 52 stories. Plans call for a mixed use development, including 14 stories of offices, luxury residential on the upper floors, and street level retail and restaurants on the first floor. Imagine riding your bicycle along the Riverwalk and stopping for lunch or a drink at the Riverwalk Tower!

Lastly, visit Hyde Park village. The Village has been a cornerstone of Hyde Park since the early 1900’s. I moved here in 1984 and enjoyed its restaurants and shops. Sadly, after Selena’s Restaurant and Club closed, the traffic dried up and the village was essentially dormant. After several ownership changes, it appears that WS Development, out of Boston, has got it right. They have touched nearly every inch of the village exterior and hardscape, enticed a wide spectrum of new retailers into the center and are adding more square footage along Rome Ave/Snow Circle. I have yet to eat a pop at Hyppo Gourmet Pops though I have shopped at Kendra Scott, dined at On Swann and browsed through J. McLaughlin.

I am loving the new Village and go by there regularly. Look for the new two story building that will house offices on the second floor and retail/restaurants on the first floor, including a new steak house called Meat Market. Can’t wait to ride over and sample the new array of food and drink!
